POLICE are appealing for witnesses after an elderly man was seriously injured in a collision in Accrington yesterday morning.

It happened at just before 9am when a Jaguar E-Pace collided with a pedestrian crossing the road at the Eastgate junction with Burnley Road.

The pedestrian, in his eighties, suffered head and pelvic injuries and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital. He remains there in a serious but stable condition.

Investigating officer Sgt Lee Harris said: “We know that this area is a particularly busy main road and so we think there will have been people out and about or travelling in the area at the time.

“We need anyone who saw what happened or has any dash cam footage of the incident to come forward. If this was you, please make contact.”
