VOLUNTARY groups in Ribble Valley are invited to apply for a grant to help them keep working to help the community.

Out of a pot of £100,000, volunteers in the community are being asked to apply for the grants to assist their work, with applications open until February 19.

From volunteer drivers ensuring the elderly get to hospital appointments, to groups offering a warm welcome to the lonely, voluntary organisations are the beating heart of the borough.

Applicants must demonstrate that they support or develop community action in a way that is sustainable and contributes to local community life.

Applications will only be accepted from parish and town councils and properly constituted organisations operating on a non-profit making basis.

Full details and application packs are available at on the Ribble Valley website.
