AN elderly man was taken to hospital after being hit by a car.

The incident took place at around 9am this morning in Accrington.

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: "We were called to a crash between a Jaguar car and a pedestrian at the Eastgate junction with Burnley Road.

"The pedestrian, a man in his 80s, suffered serious injuries and has been taken to hospital to be treated.

"Anyone who saw what happened is asked to call us on 101 quoting incident reference 223 of February 10th."

He has been described as being in a 'stable condition' and his injuries are not 'life-threatening'"
