A WOMAN in her 20s was threatened by men with machetes and suffered minor injuries in a supermarket car park robbery.

The incident took place at around 8pm on January 15 at the Asda store on Princess Way in Burnley.

The supermarket worker had been walking from the petrol station to the store when she was approached by two men in the car park.

The men had machetes and demanded cash from the victim, a woman in her 20s, before grabbing her handbag and making off in a silver Kia Picanto.

The woman suffered minor injuries in the incident.

The Kia was later found on fire around 8.10pm in Ashfield Road.

Hannah Winkley, a police investigation officer at Burnley CID, said: “We are very keen to trace anyone who might have information in connection with this robbery.

“Did you see what happened in the car park? Or the Kia being driven onto Ashfield Road?

“This crime has left the victim very shaken and upset and we want to find the men responsible.”
