Infection rates continue to drop in all six boroughs

The highest rate is still in Blackburn with Darwen, however this in continuing to drop, with a current infection rate of 320.0 in comparison to a rate 446.9 last week.

Hyndburn has the second highest rate in the borough at 280.1, in comparison to last week’s rate of 323.3 while the current infection rate in Pendle stands at 246.4 compared to 338.7 last week.

Burnley has also reported a drop, with infection rates decreasing from 355.4 to 235.0 while the infection rate in Ribble Valley now standing at 192.2 from 279.2 in last weeks data.

Rossendale has the lowest infection rate at 179.1 in the latest figures compared with 249.0 last week.

The figures, for the seven days to February 5, are based on tests carried out in laboratories (pillar one of the Government’s testing programme) and in the wider community (pillar two).

The rate is expressed as the number of new cases per 100,000 people.

Data for the most recent four days (February 6-9) has been excluded as it is incomplete and does not reflect the true number of cases.

Of the 315 local areas in England, seven (2%) have seen a rise in case rates and 308 (98%) have seen a fall.
