HOSPITALITY businesses are approaching another busy holiday with many pubs and restaurants offering take-away and cook at home packages to drive in some custom.

Valentine's Day usually sees couples flooding into restaurants and bars to have a romantic evening together, with it being one of the busiest days in a restaurants calendar.

Restaurants and pubs across East Lancashire are offering different styles of packages to try and get some business back, with owners hoping that people will help support local businesses this year.

The Fence Gate in Fence is offering a five-course Valentine's cook at home menu for £65 per couple.

The menu includes fresh, high quality produce to create a fine-dining experience which director Keeley Beaumont said she hopes will entice people to support the businesses.

Keeley said: "People still want to do something special, even though they can't go out into venues at this time.

"It's about offering something you can't ordinarily get on the high street.

"There is Marks and Spencer out there and Asda and Tesco probably all offering something for Valentine's Day.

"I think you've got to look at the positives and just offer something that is different and something that people would have ordinarily visited you for."

Accrington Golf Club Catering have also jumped on board and are offering a take-away valentines menu for either £16.50 each for two courses or £20 per person for three courses.

Owners James Jenson and Sophie Beghan took over the catering at the club in August last year, and have been using local suppliers for their take-away menu to help support the local economy.

Part owner and chef, James said: "All the food we use is fresh from local suppliers so people know what they are getting is high quality stuff.

"Its small business owners or smaller business owners that rely on repeat business from the relationships they have built up with people."

In Bolton-by-Bowland, the Coach and Horses are also offering a cook at home Valentine's package with four courses priced at £70 per couple.

The two rosette-rated restaurant in the Ribble Valley is offering the box, put together by chef Ian as a fine-dining style experience.

General manager James Bishop has said that people in the community have been very supportive of local hospitality businesses.

He said: "With no end in sight you can get really bogged down so I think it's really good to keep busy and keep something going.

"It's not just about you, it should be collaborative. Yeah you are competing for trade but everyone is not going to eat at you every week.

"When you work in the industry for a long time, you're always picking each others brains and see what they are doing."
