A FAMILY engineering company have donated two brand-new laptops to a local school.

Rossendale's RPS Precision Engineering gave them to Rawtenstall's Alder Grange School sixth form.

The family-owned company heard schools and colleges were asking for tech for their students to help with remote learning.

Michael Sirrell, its managing director, said: “Rossendale Council business support mentioned schools and colleges were asking for companies to donate their old computers for students. Initially we were going to donate reconditioned computers but then decided to buy brand-new ones.”

Dawn Luszczak, the school's head of sixth form said: “It has been a challenge to ensure all pupils have adequate tech for the work they do at home."
