Four men have been charged after two elderly men were targeted in Leyland and Chorley.

An elderly man who was hit over the head during an aggravated burglary on Balshaw Crescent, Leyland and in a second incident on Eaves Lane, Chorley another elderly man was forced to hand over some money.

In relation to the Leyland incident police said three men aged 47, 50 and 44 from Burnley and another man, 39, from Longridge have been charged with robbery.

The 47-year-old was also charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.

In relation to Chorley incident the 44-year-old and 50-year-old men from Burnley along the man, 39, from Longridge have been charged with fraud.

They appeared at Preston Magistrates’ Court this morning where they have been remanded.

The elderly man who suffered a head injury during what happened at his home in Leyland remains stable and is still receiving medical treatment.

Police said: “Thank you to everyone who sent both victims their well wishes and showed their support for our investigation.

“If you have any information about the incidents we described, please call 101 quoting incident reference 223 of January 22nd (Leyland aggravated burglary) or 315 of January 22nd (Chorley incident).”
