A WEATHER warning has been issued for this afternoon with snow and ice predicted.
According to the Met Office, Blackburn and East Lancashire are set to be hit by possibly disruptive snow and ice at around 4pm on Friday January 22, which is likely to persist until around 4pm the following day.
Maximum temperatures are expected to be around 5°C in Friday, falling to lows of -2°C overnight, with Saturday seeing highs of 4 °C and lows of -4 °C.
Residents have been warned to expect some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths, increasing the likelihood of accidents and injuries.
Some roads and railways likely to be affected by snowfall, with longer journey times by car as well as bus and train services.
As such people are advised to avoid travelling unless it is absolutely necessary.
