TRIBUTES have flooded in for Jean Proctor of Clayton-le-Moors, who died peacefully at home on January 14, 2021 at the age of 86.

Jean was a much-loved mother to sons Stephen and Keith and mother-in-law to Yvonne and Kirsty, as well as a devoted grandma to Claire, Rebecca, Tara, Cameron, Stephen and Stuart.

She was also a great-grandma to AJ, Anabella, Maxwell, Erin, Phoebe, Khalen and Ameliah-Grace.

Born and raised in Green Haworth, Accrington, Jean moved to Clayton-le-Moors when she married her late husband Bryan Procter.

She worked for several companies in the local area throughout her working life, spending several years as a cook for the manufacturer Allspeeds.

When raising her sons, Jean enjoyed family holidays spent in the UK.

Later in life, her travels took her to various countries in Europe, and then to the United States.

She loved to knit and sew and could often be found enjoying a cup of tea and a slice of cake with the ladies at the local knitting club.

Failing that, she might be in front of the telly catching up with the football, which was her favourite sport.

Jean was described by family as “an incredible lady with a lovely smile and an amazing sense of humour, who will be sadly missed by all.”

Friends Helen and Diddy Blackburn paid tribute to her, saying: “One of the nicest people we have ever met.

“She was so easy to get along with.

“Felt like we’d know her for years on first meeting.

“She had a great sense of humor and loved life.

“Jean will be sadly missed.”

Former neighbours Anthony and Catherine Quigley also paid tribute to her, saying: “You will all be in our thoughts and prayers.

“Jean was a lovely neighbour and we will miss her strength and great sense of humour.”

A private funeral for Jean will take place on January 25 in Accrington.
