This aerial photo from 1967 shows off the distinctive curved roof of what was then the new Blackburn Market.
Running across the picture is Ainsworth Street with cars parked on what would become the shopping centre in the right hand corner.
The Thwaites Tower is clearly visible and on the right you can see the other town centre brewery belonging to Dutton’s. Look at the skyline and see all the mill chimneys that were still standing
