Two men have been arrested on suspicion of burglary offences after being spotted in the early hours of the morning driving a stolen vehicle.

Police on patrol in the St Michaels area of Blackpool stopped the vehicle on Monday morning.

The two men in the car attempted to run away from the officers but were arrested nearby.

A spokesperson for the police said: "It is believed the vehicle they were driving had previously been stolen from an address in Blackpool and is also believed to be linked to a burglary in December in the Claughton on Brock area."

The men, both aged 43, one from Blackpool and one from Gloucester - were arrested on suspicion of burglary at a dwelling, burglary not at a dwelling and going equipped for burglary.

They remain in custody.
