THREE vehicles were seized in Hyndburn last night as part of an ongoing police crackdown on road safety offences.

The road safety operation took place around the Manchester Road, Baxenden and Moscow Mill Street and Union Road, Oswaldtwistle areas.

In addition to the three seized vehicles, a number of drivers were also stopped by police and spoken to about their adherence to coronavirus regulations and the necessity of their travel.

The first vehicle to be taken off the road was a car that was being driven in an anti-social manner with a popping exhaust, while the second was a motorbike being ridden with no helmet or insurance and the thirds was a BMW being driven without a licence or insurance.

Officers have said that prosecutions will follow for each of the offences.

The operation came about after residents raised a number of concerns with officers about road safety and coronavirus issues.

Police are encouraging anyone who would like to raise similar concerns to sign up to Lancashire Talking at https://www.stayintheknow.co.uk/.
