KIND Bolton residents have been helping to spread a little light in 2020.

Bolton Hospice has announced that its 2020 Light Up a Life at Home appeal was its most successful to date, raising more than £47,000 in donations.

The appeal saw hundreds of people from Bolton and beyond dedicate a light in memory of their loved ones over the Christmas period.

It also featured a virtual service of remembrance streamed on Facebook, which reached almost 3,000 views.

Alice Atkinson, director of income generation and communications at Bolton Hospice, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the support of our local community during these most challenging times and have been truly touched by the response to our 2020 Light up a Life Appeal.

“It is such a special appeal to so many of our supporters and we hope it offered some light during a dark time for so many.

“These generous donations are already being used to provide care for our patients and their families this January, both at the hospice and through our Hospice at Home service.”

Bolton Hospice is an independent charity providing care and support for local people with terminal or life-limiting illnesses and their families, in the hospice and at home.
