Blackburn with Darwen Council has said travellers have been served with a notice to move on from a car park.
A half a dozen caravans moved into Witton Park Arena Car Park on Sunday (January 10) evening. They were camped on the outer edges of the car park alongside several vehicles.
A Council spokesperson said: “We have been notified of this and officers have arranged to attend the site at Witton Park with police on Tuesday morning to serve a notice for the travellers to move on. Once served, they will have 24 hours to move off the land.
“A further check will be made after the notice has expired. If they remain on the land we will seek a court order and apply to the court to remove them off the land.
“We will of course need to adhere to the Covid guidance and welfare regarding the travellers. A welfare assessment will be carried out by officers at the site.”
