A PERSON was trapped in a car when it collided with a bus this morning in Accrington.

The incident took place on Manchester Road at 6.24am.

A Lancashire Fire Service spokesman said: "Two fire engines from Hyndburn attended a road traffic collision.

"The collision involved a car and a bus resulting in one casualty being trapped in the car.

"Firefighters freed the casualty who was left with paramedics as a precaution.

"Crews were at the scene for 35 minutes."

Hyndburn Police posted on social media about the latest incidents.

A spokesman said: "We are currently dealing with a number of road traffic collisions on Manchester Road, Acrrington - the road is closed from Rising Bridge to the town centre.

"Please avoid the area for the time being.

"The road will be closed until it has been gritted to prevent any further incidents. Please take extra care on the roads."
