The people of Great Harwood have been attaching baubles to their town’s Christmas tree hoping to lift spirits in the run up to the festive period.
The idea was started by Kelly Georgina who wanted to ‘bring hope and the Christmas spirit’ back to her community. Soon enough other townsfolk joined in.
Kelly told us, “The people of Great Harwood always put a Christmas tree up with lights.
“With everything that happened this year I wanted to do something to lift spirits and remember and thank those who are working on the front line. So, I bought a bauble and wrote ‘thank you’ to NHS workers and a Merry Christmas.
“I put it on the tree and I posted it on Facebook to see if anyone else would join and a few did. Although some were damaged, more and more people joined in placing a bauble for the memory of someone they had lost or just to thank someone for the hard work.
Kelly added, “I can’t believe how many people have joined in and followed what I started. I didn’t think anyone would be interested.
“Thank you to everyone who got involved.”
