A DISQUALIFIED driver who had been drinking at home borrowed a car and drove after receiving an "emergency" call.
Blackburn magistrates heard Anthony Monaghan was spotted by police at 1.25am and stopped because of his speed.
Monaghan, 29, of Rothesay Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified, with excess alcohol and without insurance. He was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison suspended for 18 months, banned from driving for 46 months and ordered to pay £85 costs and £34 victim surcharge.
The court heard Monaghan had previous convictions for drink driving, disqualified driving and failing to provide.
Richard Prew, defending, said his client had been at home with his partner and wasn't expecting to go out.
"He certainly wasn't expecting to go out in a car," said Mr Prew.
"He got a phone call which was something of an emergency and he borrowed car."
Mr Prew said as a result of the offence Monaghan had been recalled on prison licence and had already done the equivalent of a two month custodial sentence.
