ONE OF East Lancashire’s largest employers brought Christmas cheer to those most in need with donations of selection boxes.
Accrington based Studio.co.uk made the donations to the ARC Project Blackburn, which works with refugees and asylum seekers throughout the borough.
After such a challenging year, the company thought that the vulnerable people the project works with would be especially in need of a boost.
Studio.co.uk human resources director Collette King said: “This year has been a particularly tough year for all of us, and we’re delighted to able to once again donate selection boxes to a worthy cause.
“We hope they go some way towards making the people ARC supports, feel welcome in our community.”
The ARC Project Blackburn in based at Wesley Hall in the town centre and was founded in 2004.
It seeks to create a safe, welcoming space for those fleeing war, persecution and violence in their homelands and aims to help them to start rebuilding their lives in the UK by providing practical support and several different activities for service users to participate in, five days a week.
In 2016 the charity was awarded the Fusion Community Cohesion award for their efforts in promoting the integration of asylum seekers and refugees into the local community and in 2019 they were awarded One Voice’s Institute of the Year prize.
Donating selection boxes to worthy causes at Christmas has been a regular way for Studio.co.uk to show its appreciation for local communities over the last few years.
The ARC Project Blackburn manager Syd Soge said: “We are so grateful for the help we receive to continue our work here.
“We hand out food packs, fresh fruit and veg, toiletries, clothing, nappies, baby milk and baby food once a week to out service users.
“The selection boxes from Studio will be handed to the younger service users, to brighten their Christmas.
“Thanks once again!”
The charity is still welcoming donations of of toiletries, cooking oil and nappies, which can be dropped off on Wednesdays 10.30 onwards.
