Police have released CCTV footage of a man they wish to identify in connection with at least two distraction thefts in which elderly women had their purses stolen.
Officers in the Ribble Valley received two reports of purses being stolen from women’s handbags while they were out shopping in the Tesco and Booths stores in Clitheroe.
The incidents were reported to police on Tuesday morning and information provided stated the offenders had distracted the women, removed the purses from their bags and then walked away.
Police are now interested in speaking to the men pictured in the CCTV images.
On Tuesday, a spokesperson for the police said: “This morning we have received two reports of purses being stolen from victims’ handbags whilst out shopping.
“Two offenders have distracted the victims and removed the purses from their handbags and made off.
"We are interested in speaking to the male in the footage as we believe he can assist with our enquiries.
"If you know who this male is or recognise either of the men in the photos, email 7599@lancashire.pnn.police.uk.
"Please be extra vigilant whilst out shopping during this busy period."
