The Executive Chef at one of East Lancashire's most desirable restaurant's has made it on to the final banquet of The Great British Menu Christmas Special with her venison main course.

Lisa Goodwin-Allen, who is Executive Chef at Michelin starred Northcote in Langho topped the judges scoreboards with her succulent dish, and will now go on to compete for another place on the final menu with her dessert and petit fours creations.

Speaking about Wednesday night's triumph, Lisa said: “When it was announced my main course had won, it was quite an emotional moment.

"It’s a complete honour to be cooking for the key workers who have kept essential services running during the pandemic this year and I’m very humbled to have been chosen.”

Lancashire Telegraph:

Lisa's full gourmet menu, which captures the spirit of the dishes she's currently cooking on the show will be released when the series is over and will be available in the Northcote restaurant in January February next year.

BBC Two’s Great British Christmas Menu started on December 1, with Lisa being the only chef competing for every course at the banquet.

Narrowly missing out on a top three place with her fish course last week, Wednesday night's show saw Lisa creating a main of herb-crusted rack of venison, venison sausage, game chips, bread sauce, mulled beetroot.

And with four nines from the judges, the Executive Chef secured a coveted place on the final banquet menu, set to be served in the final episode which will be aired on Christmas Eve.

Lancashire Telegraph:

This year the programme’s format sees 11 UK chefs with 17 Michelin stars between them battle it out to produce banquet-worthy dishes to honour and thank key workers.

The final six-course Christmas menu, which includes canapes, starter, a fish course, main and dessert, will be enjoyed by specially-chosen NHS staff and key workers as a heartfelt thank you for their efforts during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Catch the penultimate episodes of the Great British Menu Christmas Special next Tuesday and Wednesday at 8pm on BBC Two.

The final will be aired on Christmas Eve.
