A MAN whose sister had a window smashed stormed across the road to the home of a woman he believed was responsible.

Blackburn magistrates heard Victor Knight banged on the woman's door demanding she come out and telling her she was going to get it.

The court was told there were two teenagers inside the house at the time.

Knight, 36, of Birtwistle Street, Great Harwood, pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour. He was fined £80 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £34 victim surcharge.

Deputy District Judge Jane Hamilton said no matter how frustrated he had been it was not appropriate to go to anyone else's home and use any kind of language towards them.

"When there are young people present it is even more inappropriate," said District Judge Hamilton.

"If you think an offence has been committed against you contact the police, they are the people to deal with it, not you."

Andy Robinson, prosecuting, said the victim was at home when Knight came banging on the door of her home in Clayton-le-Moors.

"His sister had a window broken and he believed it was someone who lived across the road," said Mr Robinson.

Gareth Price, defending, said his client accepted that he shouldn't have dealt with the situation in the way that he did.
