CORONATION Street, the world’s longest-running soap, will next week celebrate its 60th anniversary.

East Lancashire has made a valuable contribution to the success of the TV show which still attracts some of the biggest audiences.

Over the years many actors who call the area home have been on the cobbles of Weatherfield.

Here we take a look at some of the familiar faces from the show with strong connections to East Lancashire.

Others we could have featured include former Monkee Davy Jones who grew up in Clayton-le-Moors, Haslingden actress Connie Hyde, comedian Ted Robbins who lives in Rossendale and Brassic creator Joe Gilgun from Chorley who all had parts on the show.

You may know others who have had speaking parts or were just extras over the years.
