AN ARMED robber attacked a person in a shop as they raided a convenience store.

He and his accomplice snatched vodka and cash as they targeted Worthing News in Rowlands Road, Worthing.

Sussex Police were called to the store at 6.10pm yesterday following a report that staff had been threatened by two men with a firearm.

One person was assaulted during the incident.

Police say their injury was minor and they did not need to be taken to hospital for treatment.

Four bottles of vodka and about £400 in cash was reportedly taken from the till during the raid.

Detectives have now launched a fast-paced investigation as they look to track down the culprits.

Detective Inspector Pauline Lane said: "We are pursuing fast-time lines of enquiry to identify and trace these two suspects and are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened or who has information that may assist us.

"We would also urge anyone who was in the area around the time of this incident and has CCTV, doorbell or dash-cam footage to get in touch straightaway.

"If you know anything that could help us with our investigation please report it to us online or via 101, quoting Operation Everdon."

The first suspect has been described to police as white, bald and in his mid-30s with blue eyes.

He was wearing a black hoodie and a black backpack.

The second suspect was wearing a mask, but has been described as tall and having dark brown eyes.

He was wearing all black during the incident.
