GRITTERS are on standby as Bolton is set to experience a cold snap, with snow likely.
Temperatures are set to plunge to around 3C — but will feel more like -2C with a wind chill.
Gritters took to Bolton’s roads last night for a full grit, and the Bolton Council said they would be keeping a “close eye on conditions”.
Today there will be outbreaks of rain, wintry showers and hill snow with some drier spells.
Tomorrow temperatures will increase slightly with no rain predicted and the same is expected on Sunday, with cloudy skies.
The council currently carries out gritting on 317 miles of main traffic routes which is around 51 per cent of the network in the borough.
