13 DEATHS have been recorded in East Lancashire Hospitals today as the county is put into tier three restrictions.

One death occurred yesterday (December 1) in the trust's hospitals which operates Royal Blackburn Hospital and Burnley General Teaching Hospital.

Three deaths happened on Monday (November 30), two on Sunday, one on Saturday, four on Friday, one on Thursday and one last Wednesday (November 25).

Another seven deaths were recorded in Lancashire Hospitals, two in Blackpool Teaching Hospitals and five in Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.

In Blackpool Teaching Hospitals which runs Blackpool Victoria Hospital, one death occurred on Tuesday and one on Monday.

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, which operate Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley and South Ribble Hospital, recorded three deaths on Sunday, one on Saturday and one on Friday.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 479 deaths in East Lancashire Hospitals and 8,230 deaths in the North West.

Blackburn with Darwen saw the largest increase of cases today with 76 people receiving a positive test result, taking the total number of cases in the borough to 9,770.

In Pendle, a further 42 were confirmed infections taking their total to 4,813 while Hyndburn's total number of cases is now at 3,847 after 22 new cases were reported today.

There have been 35 new cases confirmed in Burnley today while Rossendale recorded 13 cases taking their total number of cases to 4,667 and 3,321 respectively.

The Ribble Valley has been the least hit area in East Lancashire with 2,040 total cases after 20 new cases were confirmed today.
