DARWEN'S much loved Anaz Indian restaurant is today celebrating 39 years in the business after a year unlike any other.

The restaurant has overcome all kinds of different challenges over the years but none quite like the recent coronavirus pandemic, which has reminded customers just how much they value their favourite eateries.

Throughout this year Anaz has continued to offer takeaway services, now at a 20% discount, and says that the restaurant's loyal customers have made it all worth it.

Owner Mr Ali said: “Myself and the team at Anaz would like to thank everybody for these 39 years and we would like everybody to stay safe and look after each other.

"We’ve come a long way together over those 39 years and without you and your help we couldn’t have done it."

It was on this day in 1981 that Mr Ali first opened his doors, welcoming the community into a brand new dining experience.

Since then Anaz has become a well recognised fixture on the Darwen dining scene.

The restaurant was first forced to close for sit down meals after the onset of the pandemic in March before being able to open again with social distancing and PPE in place after the first lockdown eased in July.

However, this was short lived with the announcement of a second lockdown in October and since then Anaz has reverted to takeaways only.

Despite this, the staff at Anaz still hope to celebrate its birthday today and to help as many customers as possible celebrate as possible with a wide range of takeaway meals.

Anaz is open for takeaways seven days a week, from 5.15pm to 10pm Monday to Thursday, 4.15 to 10pm on Fridays and 3.15pm to 10pm on weekends.
