Walkers have rights says our correspondent
AS the local walkways are being used in lockdown by walkers, joggers, cyclists etc, I would like to point out the countryside laws.
The pedestrian has the right of way, followed by the horse and then the cyclist, who should dismount from their bicycle, walk around the pedestrian, then remount and carry on with their journey.
However, many cyclists like to ride two abreast and expect the pedestrian to move out of their way to let them pass.
Several signs are on the walkways stating that cyclists must give way to pedestrians and horse riders. They can ring bells on their bikes all day long but that is not heard by a deaf pedestrian.
Please show some respect to walkers.
