A DRIVER who admitted to police he was tired when they pulled him over had been travelling 20mpg over the national speed limit.

Officers from Lancashire Road Police were out on patrol on Saturday evening when they clocked a car moving at speeds of 90mph.

They stopped the vehicle in order to speak to the driver.

A spokesman said: “Even with a quiet motorway 90+ miles per hour is not acceptable aside from it also being damp on the roads as well.

“Driver said he was tired and wanted to get home.   Please slow down and adhere to speed limits.”
