A MAN 'kicked off' after turning up at his mum’s house unexpectedly.

Blackburn magistrates heard Terence Kenny attacked his stepfather, punching and kicking him.

When his mother tried to intervene she was pushed over and was briefly unconscious after banging her head.

Kenny, 27, of Stephen Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to assaulting Denis Brown and Michael Moore. He was remanded on bail for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

Carl Gaffney, prosecuting, said Kenny turned up at his mum’s address at 8pm and was let in.

“Almost immediately he kicked off,” said Mr Gaffney.

“As he was being ushered from the house there was a violent assault on his stepfather who was punched and kicked repeatedly.

“His mum tried to intervene and when she was pushed by the defendant.”

Mr Gaffney said Kenny had previous convictions for offences of violence.

Colleen Dickinson-Jones, defending, said her client was keen to engage with the probation service.

“There is quite a complex relationship with the aggrieved parties,” said Mrs Dickinson-Jones.
