A TEAM of lottery-winning festive elves have been bringing some early Christmas cheer to carers.

Annette Dawson, from Darwen, who won £1million in 2015, and Hilary and Geoff Bennette, from Rishton, who won £3.5million in 2011, formed a Christmas elf ‘hamper task force’ along with other lottery winners in the North West from the comfort of their own homes.

The winners wanted to ensure carers at Age Concern Central Lancashire were able to experience some special Christmas cheer.

The “elves” have created more than 100 luxury hampers for the carers, packing them with a range of goodies, as a heartfelt ‘thank you’ for all of the carers’ tireless work throughout the pandemic.

One of the lottery winners, Ruth Breen, from Wigan, who won £1million in 2014 said: “The lengths these carers go to, so selflessly, and the sacrifices they make every day to care and love, is incredible. I was absolutely thrilled to be involved in such a heartwarming project to say ‘thank you’ and show our appreciation for all they do.

“I absolutely love Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed creating the hampers. We all need a bit of festive cheer at the moment so it was fantastic to be able to help.”
