Burnley bus station on the old cattle market, 1950
Burnley’s current main bus station has been commended nationally for its architectural merits, but back in 1950 this was the bus station - on the site of the town’s old cattle market.
The imposing building behind was the headquarters of the Burnley Building Society in Grimshaw Street and you can make out the dome of the Savoy Cinema behind it.
The Rose and Thistle Hotel can be seen on the corner across the road from the bus station
