This photograph of Accrington from the air in 1957 shows a very different town than we know it today.
On the right of the picture you can see work beginning on removing the gardens on Broadway and space being cleared for the new shops and car park.
The railway viaduct is still very much a feature of the town but all the mills off Hyndburn Road to the left of the photo have all gone. What else do you recognise?
