CHRISTMAS has arrived in Lancashire as lockdown families clamour to enjoy festive spirit at home.

The last weekend in November is usually the time when most people buy their Christmas trees but there has already been a surge of people buying festive spruces.

With many people opting for real trees, sellers have noticed an early demand.

Dave Rodgers, from Cliviger Christmas Trees in Burnley, said: “We have definitely noticed a trend this year with people wanting to buy fresh Christmas trees two weeks earlier.

“People are definitely buying trees early due to the ramifications of the Covid outbreak and to bring some cheer and joy into their lives.”

Although he doesn’t advise getting a real Christmas tree early, he said: “We strongly advise against getting a tree early, as they won’t last until the end of December if fetched into a warm environment, you will get three or four weeks out of your tree if looked after properly.”
