EACH week the Lancashire Telegraph will be showcasing one East Lancashire business for our new Trader of the Week page.

We want to highlight the fantastic things your business has to offer and help share your story with our readers.

Here’s this week’s Trader of the Week.

If there’s one thing many of us have missed throughout both the first and second lockdown, it's been the opportunity to visit salons.

And for those in the trade the feeling has been mutual with owners, stylists and beauticians raring to get back to business on December 2.

None more so than Split n Polish, in Preston Old Road in Cherry Tree, Blackburn.

Owner Maria Rigby said: “We’re definitely looking forward to it, all our PPE is in place and everything we were doing when we opened again back in July is still in place.

“Everybody’s been really supportive, they’ve been patient and I think clients are just like us they can’t wait to get back.”

Founded in 1999, award-winning Split n Polish has become one of Blackburn’s most loved salons for both the skill of its staff and the special relationship built up with regular clients.

Like many salons, Maria’s business is more than just a place people come for beauty treatments, it is a vital social hub and a place where clients come to feel good about themselves and each other.

She said: “Our salon is a social place, people come here, they get talking and that’s also what people have really missed.”

Split n Polish has also unveiled a new Twelve Days of Christmas offer, which will give customers the chance to purchase a new voucher online each day for 12 days starting from December 1.

The vouchers will be valid in the new year for customers to use to access special offers from the salon.

Lockdown has of course been a huge challenge but for Maria and her team there has been no let up in preparations.

She said: “With all the work we’ve been doing getting ready I haven’t put my feet up once since lockdown!”
