FAMILIES will be asked to 'Believe in the Magic of Blackburn Town Centre' this Christmas as a book of that name is brought to life.

The children's volume of that name by local author Christina Gabbitas and illustrated by Ursula Hurst will be turned into an interactive trail for families.

The story features a make-believe family and their adventures in the centre of Blackburn.

The book will form the backbone of the trail taking in the locations featured.

The book has been commissioned by Blackburn Business Improvement District.

Cllr Iftakhar Hussain, Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen said: "This is wonderful piece of work which will help to promote our fantastic borough and bring communities together in these difficult times."

Blackburn-born Christina said: "I really enjoyed writing this book. It made me remember lots of highlights from my childhood and it was magical to visit some of the places I loved to visit as a child."

To mark the launch of the book, she will be streaming a special reading to schools in Blackburn and Darwen area.

Between 27 November and 28 December animated illustrations from the book will projected on to Blackburn Town Hall.
