A CONVICTED child sex offender failed to notify police before he set off on a three day trip to Romania.
Blackburn magistrates heard Sajid Waseem Hassan had been convicted of an identical offence in December and in February had travelled abroad after notifying the police of his intentions.
"He clearly knew the requirements and the Crown ay this is a deliberate failure to comply," said Stacey Morrow, prosecuting.
Hassan, 51, of Wensley Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with requirements of the Sex Offender Register. He was committed on bail to Preston Crown Court to be sentenced on December 22.
Miss Morrow said Hassan had been made subject to the requirements of the register for live following a conviction for sexual activity with a child under the age of 16 in 2012. One of the requirements is for him to notify the police seven days in advance of all plans to travel abroad.
"On September 10 the police were informed by UK Border Control that he was travelling back from Romania and there was no information to suggest he had complied with the notification requirement," she said.
Aftab Bakhat, defending, said the defendant's neighbours, who are Romanian, wanted some help booking flights home so they could attend to some family business.
"On the spur of the moment he decided to go with them," said Mr Bakhat. "They booked and flew on the same day and returned two days later."
