ANOTHER pupil has tested positive for coronavirus at Mount Carmel School in Accrington.

As a result of this, Year 7 pupils have been asked to stay away from school today (November 16), with the school contacting parents of pupils who will need to isolate for longer.

The statement read: "Due to receiving notification of a positive COVID result in Year 7, pupils in Year 7 are asked not to attend school on Monday 16 November.

"We will be tracking all pupils who have been in direct contact with this pupil and notifying their parents tomorrow that they should stay at home and self isolate for a period of time.

"Further information will be issued on the website in due course."

The school also saw a positive case in the Y10 group, with pupils being asked to stay off of school on Friday (November 13), and also had a positive case in the Y7 group confirmed last week, leading to some students from the year group having to self isolate.
