Police patrols have been upped after a worrying increase in the number of burglaries and attempted burglaries.

Officers in Pendle say they have seen a rise in such incidents across Nelson, Brierfield and Reedley, and as a result have stepped-up the number of high visibility patrols in the area.

On Thursday November 12, a house on Garsdale Avenue was targeted between the hours of 4.30pm and 6pm.

On the same day between the same times, a house on Halifax Road in Nelson was targeted.

And on Friday, during the day, a property in Clarkson Close was targeted.

A spokesperson for the police said: "There have been a number of burglaries and attempted burglaries in the Nelson, Brierfield and Reedley area.

"We have increased the number of high visibility patrols in the area.

"We are also reassuring the victims and local members of the community in order to make them feel safe.

"The first one was on Garsdale Avenue, Reedley, on Thursday November 12 between the times of 4.30pm and 6pm.

"Log number 1025 of November 12.

"The second was on Halifax Road, Nelson, on Thursday November 12 between the times of 4.30pm and 6pm.

"The log number for this incident is 1151 of November 12,

The third was on Clarkson Close, on Friday during the day.

"The log number for this is 1317 of November 13.

"If you saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area or you have any information which could help us please give us a call on 101 quoting the log references above."

Police are also asking that residents remain vigilant and take a look at the crime prevention advice available on the police website.
