A MAN used a baseball bat to cause “significant damage” to cars belonging to his sister and her partner.

Blackburn magistrates heard Robert Trickett had been drinking heavily and appeared to have got the wrong end of the stick.

Trickett, 22, of Newchurch Road, Bacup, pleaded guilty to damaging an Audi belonging to Ashley Trickett and a Mercedes belonging to Matthew Garett, He was remanded on bail for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

Janice Valance, prosecuting, said Miss Trickett had been locked out of her home and went to stay with a friend.

“She spoke to her brother and it would seem he got the wrong end of the stick,” said Miss Valance. “He thought something had happened between her and her partner.

"He went round to their address and caused significant damage to their cars and he was armed with a baseball bat.”

Neil Howard, defending, said the issue was between his client and his sister.

“He went round in drink and caused damage to the cars by kicking them,” said Mr Howard. “He went back again, this time with a baseball bat, and caused further damage."
