PUPILS at an Accrington high school have been asked to stay home today after a positive coronavirus test.
A Y11 pupil at Mount Carmel has tested positive for the virus and all pupils in the year group have been asked to stay home from school today.
The school will be contacting parents tomorrow whose children have been in direct contact with the pupil who has tested positive.
In a statement released on the school website, Headteacher Xavier Bowers said: "Due to receiving notification of a positive COVID result in Year 11, pupils in Year 11 are asked not to attend school on Friday 13 November.
"We will be tracking all pupils who have been in direct contact with this pupil and notifying their parents tomorrow that they should stay at home and self isolate for a period of time.
"Further information will be issued on the website in due course. Thank you."
