A MOTORCYCLIST has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after crashing with a van.

Police were called at about 11.15am after the motorbike and van collided on Burnley Road in Hapton.

An air ambulance arrived at the scene to take the man to hospital but he was eventually taken by ambulance to Royal Preston Hospital.

A police spokesperson said: "We were called at 11.17am today (November 4th) to a report of an RTC between a motorbike and a van on Burnley Road, Hapton.

"The road has been closed from the junction with Manchester Road through to the junction with the A56 roundabout and will remain closed for some time.

"The motorcylist has been taken to Royal Preston Hospital with serious injuries.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log number 0408 of November 4th."

The road is still closed between Manchester Road to the A56 roundabout.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: "We were called at 11.10am today to reports of an RTC involving a motorbike.

"We sent one rapid response vehicle, a road ambulance and an air ambulance.

"We took one male patient to Royal Preston Hospital via road ambulance."
