PLANS have once again been submitted to open a new late-night bar in Bradshawgate.

Submitted by a Polepole Kajabika of Hazel Grove, Stockport, the plans are to turn a former letting agency opposite Nelson Square in Bradshawgate into a restaurant and bar.

Mr Kajabika recently had plans rejected as the application was not detailed enough.

The original plans intended to keep the bar open until 4am on weekends and bank holidays, however, no noise assessment was carried out and it was deemed this would have an adverse effect on the surrounding residents.

The new plans have altered the evening and weekend hours to closing at 3am instead of 4am.

Mr Kajabika says he eventually wants to run it as a nightclub but it’s been a very complicated process trying to get the right documents together.

He said: “We are in a very tough time and I’m making a big decision here as nobody knows when things are going to be normal again.

“I started planning this last year and wanted to open in March but coronavirus delayed everything.

“I was really disappointed when the council said they had rejected the first plans.

“I’d been paying rent for the building for two months then they came back to me saying it was refused because there was no noise assessment.

“I couldn’t see anything in the guidance that said I needed to do that but I could understand it was my mistake.

“They said to me I could re-do the plans with the assessment so I am sorting that now, just planning to open it as a bar for the time being with the restaurant coming later.

“It is just so difficult with everything going on, I won’t be able to get one for weeks.

“But I am pushing very hard because I really want to bring this to Bolton.”
