HYNDBURN is to get a new coronavirus test centre.
It will be in the car park off Eastgate and Dowry Street in the centre of Accrington.
Work will start on Monday November 2 2020, with the site expected to be operational from Saturday November 7.
Testing will be strictly by appointment only from nhs.uk/coronavirus or by calling 119.
Appointments will be available from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week.
Cllr Miles Parkinson, leader of Hyndburn Council, said; “With Covid-19 rates still growing, I’m pleased that this testing facility is being created, so that anyone in Hyndburn with symptoms hopefully doesn’t have to travel too far for a test.
"We cannot give a definite timescale for how long the test centre will be here, but it is likely to be for several months.
"Tests are available for anyone who has developed any of the main symptoms: a high temperature; a new, continuous cough; or loss of or change to your sense of smell or taste.
"It’s vital for the safety of our community that anyone with symptoms gets a test and self-isolates.”
