ACCRINGTON Stanley have revealed that 19 players and coaching staff have now tested positive for Covid-19.

Further testing has returned 10 more positive results after the club initially found eight players and one member of staff had coronavirus.

Chairman Andy Holt says all affected are displaying minor symptoms.

Four of the Reds’ League One games have been called off in all after the games at home to Plymouth this weekend, October 31 and at Hull, on November 3, were suspended today.

The Reds had already seen games against Bristol Rovers, at the Wham Stadium on Saturday, and at Swindon, tonight, postponed when the Covid-19 outbreak was first confirmed.

The earliest John Coleman’s side could return to action is in the first round of the FA Cup against Tranmere Rovers which will be played on the weekend of November 7.

“We are understandably disappointed to be missing these games in what is an already unusual season without fans in the stadium,” said owner Holt.

“The club is following Public Health England and the EFL's Covid-19 protocols and all the first team players and management will isolate for the required period.

“Thankfully all those affected appear to be showing minor symptoms and we wish them all a speedy recovery.

“We can’t wait to get back out on the pitch at the Wham Stadium.”
