A TOTAL of 19 coronavirus-related deaths were announced across the county over the weekend, the latest Government data has shown.

Of those fatalities, 12 were announced in Saturday’s figures, with seven reported on Sunday.

Four deaths were recorded within facilities operated by the East Lancashire Hospitals Trust, which includes the Royal Blackburn Hospital and Burnley General.

One of those deaths took place on October 21, two on October 22 and the fourth on October 23.

On Saturday Lancashire Teaching Hospitals recorded six new deaths from October 21 with a further three deaths from October 22 and 23 reported on Sunday.

Three deaths were reported at University Hospitals of Morecambe bay on Saturday, one on October 21 and two on October 23.

A further three fatalities were reported by the Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which occurred on October 22 and 23.

On Sunday, a further 76 people who tested positive for coronavirus died in hospital in England, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths reported in hospitals to 31,819.

Patients were aged between 43 and 100. All except three, aged between 71 and 83, had known underlying health conditions.

The deaths were between August 28 and October 24, with the majority being on or after October 21.

One other death was reported with no positive Covid-19 test result.
