A FURTHER 12 people have died after being diagnosed with the coronavirus, the latest data has shown.

Figures released over the weekend revealed that of those deaths, two people had died in hospitals operated by the East Lancashire Hospitals Trust on October 22.

The trust operates both Burnley General and the Royal Blackburn Hospital.

The highest new number of deaths was reported from within facilities operated by Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, where six new deaths were recorded on October 21.

Three deaths were reported at University Hospitals of Morecambe bay, one on October 21 and two on October 23.

A further fatality was reported by the Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which occurred on October 22.

Across the country, a further 185 people who tested positive for the virus died in hospital in England, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths reported in hospitals to 31,743. Patients were aged between 32 and 98. All except seven, aged between 66 and 90, had known underlying health conditions.
