A CONVICTED sex offender failed to inform police that he had changed address.
Blackburn magistrates heard Declan Woolloff had moved in with his grandmother because she was having difficulties and he was caring for her.
Woolloff, 18, of Hollin Street, Mill Hill, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with requirements of the sex offender register. He was fined £80 with £85 costs and £34 victim surcharge.
Samantha Hayward, prosecuting, said police officers who carried out a compliance visit were told by the defendant's mother that he no longer lived at her address.
"Under the terms of registration he is required to inform the police within three days of any change of address," said Miss Hayward.
Damian Pickup, defending, said Woolloff had been ordered out by his mum and had gone to live with his dad.
He then started staying at his gran's so he could look after her.
"He tells me he went to the town centre police station but it was shut," said Mr Pickup.
"He now has the number for the Public Protection Unit and he also knows he can't stay at his gran's.
"He is still caring for her during the day but return's to his father's address at night."
