A ROUND-UP of cases which have been before magistrates recently.

A DRUG-DRIVER has been banned from the roads for 12 months after he was caught at the wheel after using cannabis. At Wigan Magistrates’ Court Shawn Mann, aged 27, of Tudor Court, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offence whilst driving a Ford Fiesta on Derby Street, Bolton, on February 1. He was fined £120 plus £117 in costs and charges.

MAGISTRATES have given a man a conditional discharge for six months after he damaged a woman’s window and used threatening behaviour. At Manchester Magistrates’ Court David Bradley, aged 45, of Wordsworth Avenue, Farnworth, pleaded guilty to committing the offence on April 26. He was ordered to pay £200 in compensation plus £71 in costs and charges and a restraining order was made banning him from entering St Gregory’s Close, Farnworth.

A MAN caught carrying a kitchen knife in St Helens Road and Derby Street, Bolton, in July has been ordered to do 200 hours of unpaid work. At Wigan Magistrates’ Court Abdi Abullahi, age 24, of Crescent Road, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offence and failing to turn up to court for a previous hearing. He was given a community sentence and, as well as the unpaid work, must participate in 20 days of rehabilitation activities and pay £180 in costs and charges.

A MAN has been given a suspended prison sentence after he admitted contacting a woman in breach of a restraining order, destroying three doors, a fish tank, wardrobe and flooring on February 2 and possessing cannabis. At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Kristian Rogers, aged 31, of Captain Fold Road, Little Hulton, pleaded guilty to committing the offences and was sentenced to 10 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months. He must also participate in a relationships programme for 31 days and rehabilitation activities for 20 days. He was ordered to pay £213 in costs and charges.

A DRINK driver who was almost four times over the drink-drive limit has been ordered to do 200 hours of unpaid work. When Thomas Baxendale was caught driving a Hyundai car on Ramsbottom Road, Horwich, on July 18, a breath test showed he had 125 mcg of alcohol in 100 ml of breath. The legal limit is 35 mcg. Baxendale, aged 35, of Ramsbottom Road, pleaded guilty to drink-driving when he appeared at Wigan Magistrates’ Court. He was banned from holding a driving licence for 30 months and must pay £180 in costs and charges.

A DRINK-driver who failed to stop after an accident on Back St Georges Street, Bolton, on July 26 has been fined £220 by magistrates. Istvan Palfi, aged 38, of Wentbridge Road, Bolton, admitted committing the offences and having no insurance when he drove a Honda Civic. In addition to the fine, he was banned from driving for 18 months and was ordered to pay £119 in costs and charges.
