RIBBLE Valley councillor and ex-mayor Pam Dowson has died aged 61.

She died peacefully in Royal Blackburn Hospital on Wednesday (October 14).

Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans said: "Pam is going to be so sorely missed around the Ribble Valley.

"She was an absolute dynamo on and off the council several times and she was a local volunteer with youth groups as well.

"She just gave of herself to the community and she had a wonderful wonderful spirit and my deepest condolences to her family who I know are going to be absolutely devastated at this tragic loss."

Her family said: "Pamela Gertrude Dowson created a legacy in the Ribble Valley as a public speaker, councillor and humanist, and was Mayor of Clitheroe between 2018 and 2019.

"To her family, she was a beloved partner, daughter, sister and auntie who was an example of what it means to be a model citizen and a profound decent lady."

Due to the current circumstances, a private family service will be held at St Peter's Church Salesbury on Thursday October 22 at 2pm prior to cremation at Pleasington.

Donations may be made in memory of Pam to St Peter's Beavers Association, courtesy of The Alty Funeral Service.
